Privacy

We keep data collection minimal. No tracking cookies, no advertising networks, and nothing that follows you to another site.

Who we are

This site is operated as Considered Gifts ("we", "us"), reachable at admin@consideredgifts.com. This policy explains what we collect on consideredgifts.com and why.

What we collect

The public site has no accounts. You can browse and use the gift finder without giving us personal information. Finder answers stay in the page URL and your own browser; they are not sent to us as personal data.

If you join Gift Notes, we collect your email address, the signup location on the site, consent time, and subscription status. We use this only to send the editorial emails you requested, on the basis of your consent. Every message will include an unsubscribe option.

Analytics

We measure how the site is used with two privacy-preserving tools. Neither one sets a cookie, builds an advertising profile, or tracks you across other websites, and we do not sell or share what they collect.

  • Vercel Web Analytics counts page views. It stores nothing at all in your browser. To tell repeat views apart, Vercel derives a one-way hash from the incoming request — including your IP address, browser type, and the page — which is rotated daily and cannot be turned back into an identifier or linked across days. What we see is aggregated: pages, referrers, country, device and browser type.
  • Our own interaction measurement records anonymous product events — a gift idea viewed, the finder started or completed, a click through to a retailer — so we can tell which guides are actually useful. It records no IP address, email, account, or any identifier that persists between visits. Events are stored on our own infrastructure and deleted after 180 days.

Our interaction measurement gives each browser tab a random id, held in that tab's session storage, so a single visit's events can be counted as one session. It is discarded the moment you close the tab and can never connect two visits or reach another site.

Cookies

The public site sets no cookies — none for analytics and none for advertising. A few preferences are kept in your own browser's storage and never leave your device. The full list is in the cookie policy.

Legal basis

Newsletter emails are sent on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Anonymous audience measurement, and the abuse protection described below, rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and running a working website. Because neither one identifies you, builds a profile, or follows you elsewhere, we consider that interest to outweigh the minimal impact — but you can object at any time by emailing admin@consideredgifts.com.

Security and abuse protection

To stop our event endpoint being flooded, we compute a salted, one-way hash of the requesting IP address and the current date. We never store the IP address itself, the hash cannot be reversed, and it is discarded within a day.

Who processes the data

  • Vercel — hosting, content delivery, and Web Analytics.
  • Supabase — stores the site's gift catalogue, editorial content, interaction events, and newsletter subscriber records.

Some of these providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards their own terms provide.

Retention

Interaction events are deleted after 180 days. Vercel Web Analytics keeps only aggregated statistics, with no per-visitor record to retain. Newsletter records are kept while you remain subscribed and for a limited period afterwards where necessary to honor an unsubscribe or legal obligation.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email admin@consideredgifts.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version.
